Next Saturday, the Stratton Student Center will host a one-day celebration of video game creators, researchers, and fans—including noted MIT alumni, faculty, and students. The Boston Festival of Indie Games, now in its second year, is free of charge and open to the public; the event will feature talks by industry professionals, a game jam during which participants will create an original game in just a few hours, and both digital and tabletop game showcases.

Go Home Dinosaurs, the latest game released by local MIT alum-founded video game studio Fire Hose Games, will appear in Boston FIG's digital games line-up, along with other indie favorites hand-picked by a long list of curators that includes several MIT alumni and faculty.

Dave Lebling '71, SM '73, best known for creating the game Zork, will appear on a panel titled "Boston: The Cradle of Narrative Games," with several other experts. Matthew Weise '08 moderates the panel, which takes place at 6:30 p.m.

To admire the hard work of the MITers who helped to organize, curate, and participate in this event (including co-producer and curation chair Clara Fernandez-Vara '04 and curation coordinator Owen Macindoe '10, as well as members of the MIT Game Lab staff, which co-sponsored the event), swing by the Stratton Student Center at 10 a.m. on September 14, 2013. Check the Boston FIG website for the the festival's full schedule.
