US News Recognizes MIT Grad Program as No. 1

MIT has done it again! US News & World Report released its 2025 Best Graduate Schools rankings on April 8 and named the Institute the No. 1 engineering school in the nation—keeping hold of the top spot it has occupied ever since the magazine first began ranking such programs in 1990.
MIT earned the top spot in six individual engineering disciplines:
- Aerospace / Aeronautical / Astronautical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Computer Engineering (tie)
- Electrical / Electronic / Communications Engineering (tie)
- Materials Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
Among disciplines evaluated this year, MIT’s programs in computer science and economics (tie) also ranked first in the country.
The MIT Sloan School of Management ranked high as well, tying for fifth place in the overall ranking of best graduate business programs. MIT earned first place in four individual business specialties:
US News & World Report bases its rankings of graduate schools on reputational surveys and statistical indicators, with methods varying by discipline. Details on the methodology used for each of the various programs ranked is available on the magazine’s website.
Earlier this spring, QS World University Rankings placed MIT in the No. 1 spot in 11 subject areas for 2025.
