Each spring, the Office of Admissions sponsors Campus Preview Weekend (CPW), a four-day event that gives newly admitted students an opportunity to visit MIT and attend classes, meet with students groups, and partake in non-academic activities like midnight pancakes, laser tag, and the unique-to-MIT game Dance Dance Tetris.

Not to mention CPW’s long history of hacks, hacks, and more hacks.

Thanks to a video created by first-year students Sherry Wan and David "Scott" Hunter, prospective students and parents are getting a rousing welcome even before they arrive on campus. The video—which combines a notebook, markers, and glitter with some seriously creative brainpower—highlights some of the Institute's unique facts and quirks, including its 450 student-run organizations, 53 individual and team national varsity championships, top-ranked linguistics program, and high-quality homage to Gangnam Style.

The welcome video was done as part of course 21W.032 (Science Writing and New Media), which is part of the Program in Writing and Humanistic Studies and the First Year Writing Curriculum. The video has more than 3,000 YouTube views and, based on the comments, has been effective in getting prospective students excited about MIT.

Campus Preview Weekend 2013 takes place April 11-14, 2013. Registration is open through March 28.
