US News and World Report released its 2022 Best US Colleges rankings for undergraduate education and MIT was ranked at or near the top in several categories, including the first spot for undergraduate engineering and computer science programs. The Institute placed second overall in US News and World Report’s annual rankings of the nation’s best colleges and universities (up from the fourth spot last year), sharing the spot with Columbia University and Harvard University.
The Institute placed first in six out of 10 engineering disciplines. According to MIT News, no other institution is first in more than two disciplines. MIT also ranked second in best value schools and third in most innovative schools.
MIT has also ranked high in other prominent 2022 rankings, including first in the QS World University Rankings for the 10th consecutive year, third overall in the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Rankings, and fifth in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
