Volunteers: Consider MITFCU

The Advantages of Banking at the MIT Federal Credit Union

The MIT Federal Credit Union (MITFCU) and the Alumni Association have cultivated a longstanding partnership offering various financial products and services not only to benefit individual alumni but alumni groups as well.  Because of this partnership, you are able to generate benefits for your club, class or group AND help support Alumni Association and student programs at the same time!

MIT Alumni Branded Visa® Credit Card provides spending power, flexibility and supports MIT Alumni and student programs every time you use the card. The card has competitive low-interest rates, balance transfers, cash advances, no annual fee, and a rewards program.

With the MIT Alumni credit card, you can more easily book caterers and event spaces that may require a card simply to hold a reservation.  It is also much easier for online purchases as well as keep your funds safer.

With the Alumni Visa Rewards program, you can use your points to purchase speaker gifts or prizes for raffles or contests.

ATM MapBut what if you don't live in Cambridge? The MITFCU offers the convenience of Online Banking, Mobile Banking, even banking via text and they have shared branches in 47 states plus 35,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide.

Visit this page to find a surcharge-free ATM: https://www.mitfcu.org/About/Branches-ATMs/Surcharge-Free-ATMs. You can easily deposit funds at an ATM 24-7.

A $5 minimum deposit into Savings Account establishes membership making it easy to set up an account even if you don't have a large sum of funds. Once you've grown your account there are further options like high-interest savings accounts and money market accounts to take advantage of. The Association requires each alumni group to establish one of the staff of the Association signatory on accounts when the Institute’s Tax ID Number (TIN) is used. This is in case the primary treasurer or user becomes unable to manage the account, or does not handle the account responsibly. Maintaining your accounts at the MITFCU allows your Alumni Association signatory easier access to steward the account on behalf of your group.

Class Treasuries

Each MIT class has a holding account at MIT; each seven-digit account number begins with 10940 and ends with the class year; for instance, the account for the Class of 2002 is 1094002. The class holding account is used for class business conducted through MIT, including deposits for reunion vendors, etc.
