Novartis project at 181 Massachusetts Avenue.

You can answer that question if you spend a little time on a new website, Capital Projects. The renewal of MIT's physical facilities is duly mapped, documented, and linked to commentary.

Starting with the 2004 Stata Center, the repository of completed and works-in-progress construction extends to projects in early development. While some projects are still planning dots on a map, like the University Park Expansion, others have construction detail and reviews such as Maseeh Hall. Here are some highlights:

181 Massachusetts Avenue (Novartis) Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research has leased a four-acre parcel of MIT land to expand by constructing two new buildings with 550,000 square feet of laboratory, office, and retail space and renovating Building N42. Read The Tech's piece on the selection of Maya Lin as the lead architect and check the Novartis Cambridge Campus web page for updates.

More amenities are coming to Kendall Square.

Kendall Square MIT has helped neighboring Kendall Square become a magnet for biotech and pharmaceutical companies and technology startups through strategic management of properties in the Institute's real estate portfolio. Now MIT is supporting a revitalization of street life with new restaurants, residential options, plus more research space. Articles report on topics from Cambridge rezoning issues to the recent history of Kendall Square

Media Lab Complex Completed in 2009, the expansion to the world-renowned Wiesner Building was designed by a team headed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Fumihiko Maki. The Details page provides facts like square footage and the dimensions of the atrium and the Links page offers critical reviews of the completed building, great photos in the Fast Company article, and videos about the experience of working there.
