This past weekend, June 2-5, more than 4,000 people returned to Cambridge to celebrate Tech Reunions. The weekend included yearly traditions, like the 50th class donning their red jackets, and special events just for 2016, like the massive Toast to Tech celebration marking the closing festivities for MIT’s centennial in Cambridge celebration. Many alumni took to social media to share their favorite Tech Reunions moments with digital world, using the hashtag #techreunions. Enjoy highlights of the weekend direct from your fellow alumni.
Quinnton Harris ’11 returned to MIT for his 5th year reunion and shared why it meant so much to him.
"The most riveting moment for me was meeting Black alums in “red coats”. The MIT tradition is to honor alumni who graduated 50 years and more ago with a tailored cardinal red blazer. It’s THE coveted symbol of achievement and longevity. But to see someone who looked like me wearing one was such a honor. It was so special to talk shop with those guys. I met Ernie, class of 1962, who comes to campus every chance he gets to photo document community events and meetings. I am convinced he is me 50 years from now haha." -@quinntonharris - #mit2011 #techreunions #mitredcoats A post shared by Quinnton Harris (@quinntonharris) on Jun 6, 2016 at 12:23am PDT
