The fun kicks off today at the MIT Museum with the unveiling of the MIT150 Exhibition for MIT faculty, staff, students, and alumni. The collection of 150 evocative objects were nominated by the MIT community and selected to reveal the extraordinary qualities of the Institute throughout its history.
If you're not local, there's a host of online resources:
Interactive timeline—images, sound, and video will help you experience the depth and diversity of MIT's academic, social, and cultural history.
Infinite History—more than 100 video interviews (with interactive transcripts) featuring individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to their fields and to MIT. The collection includes faculty, Nobel Laureates, Corporation members, alumni, MIT presidents, and staff.
The Corridor—stories from MITers worldwide. Share your own!
Multimedia—a new 11-minute documentary, Founding of MIT: Persistence of Vision, examines the challenges faced by MIT's founder William Barton Rogers and explores how his principles continue to influence today's MIT.
Sketches of MIT staff—a collection of 25 profiles of peer-nominated people from around MIT.
