Dave deBronkart's cancer diagnosis was grim when he learned he had a rare, aggressive, and late-stage form of the disease. But he turned to online patient communities and found the medical treatment that saved his life. In this TEDxMaastricht talk from April, deBronkart advocates for more patient involvement in health care by allowing people open access to their own medical data and connecting fellow patients to help make more informed decisions. "The most underutilized resource in all of health care is the patient," he says.

deBronkart, who received a degree in management, serves as his class secretary and is a member of his class reunion committee. Visit his e-patient Dave site.
