Did you know that 50 percent of all the mercury that contaminates our wastewater comes from dentistry? Omar Al-Midani SM ’98 and his company PureLife Dental have a solution. “The whole problem will be eradicated in three years. We feel very confident about that,” Al-Midani says in this MIT Alumni Association podcast.

PureLife is making a name for itself in the dental supply industry, and more recently in the broader healthcare industry, by putting in the time and money to find the most sustainable option for all its products. According to Al-Midani, the company’s mission requires putting the health of people and our planet first, even when it cuts into profits.

Listen to this Slice of MIT podcast to hear Al-Midani talk about why that business model makes sense, the lessons he learned on the path from an AeroAstro degree to dental supplies, and more. Or, read a full transcript of the Podcast
