Have you ever tried to communicate with someone—whether in a simple conversation or a formal presentation—and felt that you weren’t effectively getting your point across? MIT lecturer Jean-luc Doumont says that by using simple rules of thumb based on an understanding of how the listener’s brain works, anyone can improve their communication.

In this recent MIT Career Lunch & Learn, Doumont discusses a general guideline for how many items to present together, as well as other key points for structuring communications.

The talk was moderated by Diana Chien PhD ’16, program director of the MIT School of Engineering Communication Lab.
