An invitation to the 2011 MIT Mystery Hunt.

The MIT Mystery Hunt has been a January tradition at the Institute since 1981. Each year teams work round the clock to solve elaborate puzzles and then put those solutions together to unlock a master puzzle and then to find the hidden coin. Codex won this year's race yesterday but it's not too late for you to join the fun.

Aha! At MIT Mystery Hunt, teams labor to solve elaborate puzzles

CAMBRIDGE — The final “aha’’ happened at 5:58 a.m. [January 16], in a second-floor classroom at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, when a ladder was discovered.

After 42 hours, more than 100 puzzles, and very little sleep, team Codex figured out the ladder was part of the MIT Mystery Hunt and used it to find — atop a light fixture — what more than a thousand people had been chasing all weekend: the coin….
