The MIT alumni community is made up of survivors, so it's no surprise that alumni-founded companies continue to outpace their non-MIT competitors. In  "Entrepreneurship and Innovation at MIT" published last year, authors report that 70 percent of MIT-alumni founded companies survive for at least 10 years compared to 35 percent of all US companies. Nearly two-thirds of alumni-founded companies dating back to 1945 are still in existence. To date, alumni-founded companies have generated nearly $2 trillion in annual revenues and employ 4.6 million people."Entrepreneurship and Innovation at MIT: Continuing Global Growth and Impact" was authored by Edward B. Roberts, Fiona Murray, and J. Daniel Kim at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
