Jie Qi SM '12 is a PhD student in the Media Lab's High-Low Tech group whose creations straddle art, design, technology, and the do-it-yourself philosophy. Slice featured her pop-up book Electronic Popables a few years back.

As her website says, she "investigates materials and techniques for blending electronics with traditional arts and crafts media to create personally meaningful technology." She explores how circuits, programming, interactivity, and logic can create "magical experiences" and affect the stories people tell. See more of her projects online.

Pu Gong Ying Tu is an interactive painting of a dandelion field. Blow on the white puffs, and the seeds disperse and generate new flowers, which begin as yellow dandelions that soon bloom into responsive white seed puffs.
