Event Details

It is again time for the MIT Club of Switzerland’s annual general meeting! The board is excited to welcome you to attend the AGM near Zurich on Saturday, May 17, 2025, hosted at the Umwelt Arena Switzerland, an exhibition and competence center for all things sustainability and environment. The event kicks off with a private behind-the-scenes tour of the sustainable design, architecture, and energy use of the Umwelt Arena building. Afterwards we'll enjoy a relaxed lunch together before heading to a meeting room to discuss the MIT Club. There is time before and after the official program to explore the exhibitions on your own. The event is modular - you can sign up for some or all additional activities as you wish!

As the forms of advanced eduction evolve at MIT and around the world, we too need to keep our club up-to-date. This year we will be considering revisions to our Club Statutes regarding the definition of membership. The AGM is your opportunity to participate in the Club’s review of last year and add your voice to our planning for the future. We hope you’ll join us!

Global Leaders - How is the International Baccalaureate (IB) adapting to the future of education?

Thriving Kids - How can parents and concerned citizens counter the growing forces shaping children into passive consumers and spectators? 

Learn about how Bloom Academy, Hong Kong’s first bilingual school of innovation, is nurturing social innovators and compassionate creators.  With the launch of its secondary program campus this academic year, the school now offers a through-train journey for its expanding family community.  Renee Boey, Head of School at Bloom Academy, will moderate a conversation with Faith and Spencer, unpack their visions and actions regarding Education Futures, connecting them to the Here and Now.

Frankfurt is a vibrant city with plenty to do for everyone. If you have time in Frankfurt beyond the AGM, perhaps one or more of the following may be of interest to you:  

• The Senckenberg Natural History Museum has been highly recommended by one of our alums for both adults and children 
• If the Senckenberg isn't quite your style, you have 38 more museums to choose from -- all part of the Museumsufer Frankfurt (although not all are directly on the riverbank) representing nationally and internationally important museums and art galleries  
• Römerberg, the heart of the medieval "Altstadt" is always worth a visit, even though the beautiful half-timber buildings you view today are mostly reconstructed
• Palmengarten, the Frankfurt Botanical Garden, is likely to be an exceptional draw with the typically-mild temperatures of late May

If you have time in Frankfurt beyond the AGM, perhaps one or more of the following may be of interest to you:   The Senckenberg Natural History Museum has been highly recommended by one of our alums for both adults and children  If the Senckenberg isn't quite your style, you have 38 more museums to choose from -- all part of the Museumsufer Frankfurt (although not all are directly on the riverbank) representing nationally and internationally important museums and art galleries   Römerberg, the heart of the medieval "Altstadt" is always worth a visit, even though the beautiful half-timber buildings you view today are mostly reconstructed Palmengarten, the Frankfurt Botanical Garden, is likely to be an exceptional draw with the typically-mild temperatures of late May   Please purchase your AGM tickets as soon as possible, but no later than Sunday, May 18th.
