Join us Saturday Morning at 8:30 am for a hike through our local gem,  Torrey Pines State Preserve. 

Parking in the Preserve on weekends is $20, so we will use free street parking at 11101 N Torrey Pines Place, in the Science Park Area. 

We will walk along the golf course into the Preserve. 

We will walk down the South Fork Trail and Broken Hill Trail down to the Beach. 

There is a low tide a 9:49 AM so we should be able to walk onto the sand. 

We will walk up the Beach trail, visit the Lodge and head back to our cars.

Refreshments will be supplied by the MIT Club of San Diego after the walk. 

There are port a potties available at the top of the beach trail. 

Sorry, but dogs are not allowed. 

Walking to the Guy Fleming Trail will be an option available for those not eager to climb the 357 foot hill. 

NOTE: There will not be an MIT Club walking event in June due to a conflict with the MIT Club Annual Picnic. Please attend the picnic.

There will not be an MIT Club walking event in July due to a conflict with Independence Day Weekend.

There should be an walking event Saturday August 2nd.

Celebrate Star Wars Day at the MIT Club of DC Annual Meeting & Picnic!  At this event, MITDC members and their guests can relax with fellow alumni, enjoy good food, play lawn games, and vote for next year's MITDC board while enjoying the beautiful view of the Potomac River. Attendees will also have an opportunity to win fun raffle prizes.  As it is Star Wars Day, the grand prize will be a Lego Millennium Falcon Set!

Lunch is included in this event. The menu includes: Pesto Baked Salmon, Pulled Chicken BBQ + buns, Roasted Seasonal Vegetables, Baked Beans, Corn on the Cob, Potato Salad, Fresh Fruit, Cookies, Lemonade and Iced Tea. Acoholic drinks may be purchased at the Island Time Bar and are the responsibility of the attendee.

This event is for dues paying members. Not a member?  No worries!  We have bundled tickets + discounted membership tickets at checkout.  Discounts for MIT10 are also available. Partners may attend for free.

Want to learn to salsa & bachata while meeting fellow alumni? Join MIT10 for a Thursday night bachata class followed by social dancing at Cielo Rooftop Lounge (*Trying a new venue!*) on May 8! All levels welcome, the lessons are very beginner friendly!

There is a $15 cover fee (paid at the door), which covers the class and open social dance afterwards. There will be bar service. Parking is available on the street and garages downtown nearby the venue.

Plan to meet outside the door at 6:45 pm. We'll wait there as a group and go up before class starts at 7:00 pm. If you're running late just meet us inside (5th floor). After the 1-hour class there will be social dancing until late, so stay as long as you want to dance!

Alum Dr. Gil Blankenship, '67, SM '69, PhD '71, will share some stories about what he has learned while starting companies that make hardware. There will be networking time and a chance for you to pitch your company.

Hosted in collaboration by the MDC Studio, a startup studio dedicated to building medical technology companies from the ground up, and Henry M Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF), attendees will get a chance to learn about the new HJF Innovation Ecosystem, empowering the development and commercialization of military medical innovations.

Come and discover local resources and support for device innovations, pitch your ideas (no experience needed!), and mingle with innovators, experts, and future collaborators while enjoying light refreshments and drinks!

Gil BlankenshipFounder and Chairman of the Board of the MDC Studio Dr. Gil Blankenship is the Founder and Chairman of the MDC Studio, and a former Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park. Over his career, he has built multiple technology companies, including Techno-Sciences, TRX Systems, and Strom Motors, which have taken numerous products to national and international markets, and three of which have been acquired. Dr. Blankenship completed his BS, MS, and PhD in Electrical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a life fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.   Getting There The meeting will be held in the Henry M Jackson Foundation's San Antonio A/B conference room in building 6720A, which just on the right after you enter the building. This event is best accessed by car.  It is possible to take the metro to the Grosvenor-Strathmore red line stop and take a bus (or Uber/Lyft/cab) for the last three miles.
