MIT10 Involvement
Attracting This Unique Cohort
The Association defines MIT10 alumni as those who have received their undergraduate degree in the last ten years.
This is typically a unique and nuanced cohort with wide variety of character, knowledge and ideas. In the interest of diversity and utilizing a connection to campus that is still fresh and energized, here are some tips to attract MIT10 alumni in your area or knowledge pool:
-
Appoint a member of your club or group to be an MIT10 Chair.
-
Plan an annual event to welcome new graduates to your club or group at minimal or no cover charge.
-
Plan easy, low-cost MIT10-centric topics such as financial planning, resume writing, career building and networking, or help buying a house. Simple social gatherings such as happy hours, bowling or purely social events are also great to consider.
-
Consider combining an event with young alumni groups from other universities to grow numbers, lower costs and increase the social energies and promote a casual atmosphere.
-
Offer a small gift to MIT10 who come to a club or group event for the first time.
-
Create a standard survey that can used to poll your group's MIT10 constituency and plan events that are best suited to their purposes.
-
Gear your communications toward email and social media with eye-catching light-hearted graphics.
