• Be sure they have the necessary information and technical tools to fulfill responsibilities and achieve success.
• The best stewardship is satisfaction in the volunteer role.

Build Rapport with your Volunteer

• Check in to be sure your volunteers feel included and useful.
• Seek their input and ideas for improvements and changes.
• Strengthen their relationship with MIT.
• Learn what their expectations are for future roles.

Communicate with your Volunteer

• Communicate regularly with individual volunteers.
• Provide your personal contact information and respond quickly to questions and concerns.

Recognize your Volunteer

• Foster a culture of appreciation.
• Share impact reports highlighting the contribution of individual volunteers as well as committees.
• Nominate them for awards.

Thank your Volunteer

• Thank them personally for their loyalty and commitment to MIT.
• Arrange for expressions of thanks from other members of the MIT community.
• There is no such thing as too many "Thank You's."
