How do I know if I'm eligible?

You are eligible if you are one of the following:

1.) Alumnus/a (degreed and non-degreed)

Degreed alumni will automatically be listed in the Infinite Connection database.

Non-Degreed alumni can ask to be added to the database so they can register for the Infinite Connection if they meet the following criteria:

  • If you WERE ENROLLED AT MIT as a full-time undergraduate IN A DEGREE-GRANTING PROGRAM for at least one complete term (only after your class has graduated).
  • If you WERE ENROLLED AT MIT as a full-time graduate student IN A DEGREE-GRANTING PROGRAM for at least two complete terms.

**Please note, individuals who took classes at MIT as special students, cross-registered students, visiting students, and/or were enrolled in non-degreed programs, do not qualify as non-degreed alumni

If you meet the above criteria please submit the Non-Degreed Alumni Status Request Form

After you have been added to the database, and a user ID has been provided to you, you will be able to register for the Infinite Connection.

If your program has not been approved by the Alumni Association Board of Directors, you will need to contact your sponsoring faculty member or department at MIT.  Your sponsoring faculty member or department shall apply for Associate member status through the MIT Alumni Association CEO (wespich@mit.edu). Confirmed Associate member status will allow you to register for an Infinite Connection account and have access to the online alumni directory. However, you will not be able to utilize the email for life (alum.mit.edu) service as EFL is only available to MIT alumni.

4.) MIT Postdocs

An individual who has had an MIT postdoctoral appointment of nine (9) months or longer may register for an Infinite Connection account. An Infinite Connection account will give you access to the MIT Alumni Association Directory (OAD), allowing you to search for and connect with MIT alumni and postdocs in your field, area of expertise, and location.

The MIT Alumni Association sends an email message to MIT postdocs once they meet their nine (9) month eligibility period, add a record to the Alumni Association database of records and sends information on how to register for an Infinite Connection account.

If you have been an MIT postdoc for nine (9) months or longer, look carefully at your email inbox for a message from the Alumni Association containing your user ID and registration instructions. If you can no longer locate it, complete the Infinite Connection User ID request form.

(Note: If you were a postdoc at MIT prior to 2000, you may request to be added to the MIT Alumni Association database of record by submitting the MIT Postdoc Infinite Connection Request Form.)
