Volunteer Profiles

Keeping MIT Strong, Making an Impact

Volunteers help MIT, students, and their alumni peers in dozens of ways, and the people who help develop resources have a particular impact. These volunteers devote their efforts to generating funds that support superb opportunities for students on campus and for alumni worldwide. And they have fun doing it. Here are a few of their stories:

  • Joseph Harrington '61, SM '63, ScD '66
"Shop around and find something that fits you," urges the Bronze Beaver recipient. Harrington describes how he developed a useful skill-asking people for money.
  • Bonny Kellermann '72
From her undergraduate days through years of service as an MIT administrator and prolific volunteer, Kellerman has been skating on thickice.
  • Luda Kopeikina SM '90
"I think that many entrepreneurs will answer this question the same way as I do-to make the world a better place. Money is a great driver but it is not sufficient for powerful motivation"
  • SPICE (Students Promoting an Improved Campus Experience)
Seniors from the Class of 1997 began supporting community initiatives for future students-and they have been giving ever since.
  • Douglas Spreng '65
