Sponsor application deadline. If you are a non-alumnus/a staff member assisting an MIT alumnus/a with the externship process and paperwork, contact Katie Maloney at 617-452-3372, to make arrangements for online access to the externship program application and subsequent online actions.)

Opportunities open to student body.
October 15, 2009
Sponsors receive email with link to student applications available for online review.
October 15–November 5, 2009, 9:00 a.m.
Alumni may review student applications online. Alumni are also encouraged to contact students directly for phone or in-person interviews before indicating their qualified and preferred student candidates. Alumni may not offer an externship to a student directly at this time. Students may apply for up to three opportunities and may be interviewed by more than one sponsor during this period.
November 5, 2009, 9:00 a.m.
Deadline for alumni to indicate their student extern preferences online.
November 6-25, 2009
The Alumni Association runs the matching program to match qualified students with alumni sponsors. Two rounds of matching will be run to allow for as many matches as possible.
November 30, 2009
The Alumni Association sends an email to the sponsor and student to establish an externship match and to provide contact information to both.
December 2009
Sponsors should contact the student externs as soon as possible to make arrangements for the externship.
January 4-29, 2010
IAP 2010, students participate in externships.
