Connecting Alumni Interest and Expertise in Energy

The Energy, Environment and Sustainability Network includes alumni volunteers from around the world who want to identify their expertise and share their energy interests with others. You can register to join the network or update your network information by visiting the Network tab on the "My Account" page.

Volunteer for local or global assignments

Become an Energy Ambassador: As an Energy Ambassador, you will work with your local club to coordinate Energy, Environment and Sustainability activities. If you are a club volunteer or leader and would like to find the energy-interested in your area, please request a report.

Engage with Student Groups & Activities

MIT alumni are invited to participate in energy clubs and groups on campus.

  • MIT Energy Club Bringing together the energy communities at MIT for fact-based analysis and education. Founders of the MIT Energy Conference and MIT Energy Night, two important events to which alumni are invited.
  • Sustainability @ MIT MIT's largest student-led group focused on sustainability issues.
  • MIT Clean Energy Prize The MIT Clean Energy Prize is a venture creation and innovation competition that was established in 2008 to encourage innovation in the energy space, specifically with regard to clean energy.

Online Communities for supporting Energy & Environment Initiatives

  • MIT Alumni Focus: Energy, Environment & Sustainability a sub-group of the official MIT Alumni group on LinkedIn, this community is open to alumni and graduate students for discussions and job posting.
  • MIT Global Challenge The MIT Global Challenge connects students with the passion and talent to improve the world with the experience and resources of the MIT community worldwide. We support innovation and entrepreneurship as public service through an annual competition that awards up to $25,000 per team for the best ideas to tackle barriers to well being.
  • MIT Climate CoLab The Climate CoLab seeks to harness the collective intelligence of contributors from all over the world to address global climate change. The Climate CoLab is a forum where teams create proposals for what to do in a series of annual contests.

Connect with Energy Mentoring Opportunities

  • Mission 2015 Solving Complex Problems (12.000) is designed to provide students the opportunity to work as part of a team to propose solutions to a complex problem that requires an interdisciplinary approach. An important aspect of this educational experience is the involvement of a cadre of alumni mentors who serve as coaches and information resources for the student design teams.  
  • MIT Energy Club Mentorship Program The MIT Energy Club Mentorship Program provides an opportunity for MIT Alumni in the energy industry to mentor current students who are interested in pursuing careers in this exciting and rapidly expanding field. 
  • MIT F/ASIP Program  F/ASIP is one of MIT's premier programs with nearly 100 students participating and internship opportunities not only across the country but around the world.
  • Venture Mentoring Service VMS mentors are recruited not only for their expertise in business formation, strategic planning, organizational management, and specific technical fields but also for their skills as advisors and their enthusiasm for the program.
