After exploring Istanbul, Turkey’s cultural and spiritual heart, continue to Gaziantep, one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world. Tour its vibrant bazaar and discover the region’s acclaimed cuisine during a Turkish cooking lesson. Enjoy a cruise on the Euphrates River, important in the development of ancient civilization. Visit Urfa, thought to be the birthplace of Abraham. At Mt. Nemrut learn about King Antiochus, whose mountaintop burial site is adorned with evocative statues and temples. Explore Cappadocia, renowned for its surreal landscape and extensive underground cities. Conclude in Ankara, Turkey’s capital, with a tour of the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. Optional post-trip extension to Izmir for tours of Ephesus and Pergamum.
