Join Assistant Professor Lindy Elkins-Tanton ’87, SM ’87, PhD ’02 and Thomson Safaris’ expert guides on one of the world’s greatest adventures and alluring challenges to the top of Africa’s highest peak—Mount Kilimanjaro!

Spend nine extraordinary days trekking the Western Approach route through five distinct climate zones, which will allow plenty of acclimatization time. Along the way, hike through a balmy rainforest where curtains of moss hang from every tree before emerging from the forest onto a vast plateau, high above the clouds and far from civilization, with spectacular views extending to the volcanic and glaciated summit. Stay at a high-altitude camp inside Kilimanjaro’s dormant, Furtwangler Glacier and benefit from a daytime summit bid. Continue on a post-trek safari extension to Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park.
