Enjoy face-to-face encounters with two of the world’s last great frontiers, Southern Patagonia with its fjords and glaciers and stunning Torres del Paine National Park. Spend three nights in Buenos Aires then fly to Ushuaia at the southernmost tip of Argentina. Cruise for three nights aboard the M/V Via Australis, an expedition ship built specifically for navitating the Patagonian Channels. Cruise through the Strait of Magellan and the Beagle and Murray channels to Cape Horn, stopping to see the thousands of penguins on Magdalena Island. Disembark in Punta Arenas and spend two full days exploring unspoiled Torres del Paine, a 700-square-mile World Biosphere Reserve. Also experience Chile’s Lake District and more natural wonders at Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. Lectures by Profesor Emeritus Fred Frey and commentary by local experts enhance your travel experience. Optional post-tour extension to Easter Island.
