Circle the globe on an inspiring 21-day expedition to the lands of the sky worshippers. This journey brings you up close to 11 UNESCO World Heritage sites, and highlights the powerful influence the heavens have had on cultures throughout history. You’ll fly to the jungles of Guatemala and climb the 2,000-year-old ruins of Tikal; travel by train to Machu Picchu, an ancient and legendary Incan outpost; and experience one of the most isolated places on Earth when you land in Easter Island, home of the mysterious moai statues. Venture deep into the heart of Australia to behold the mysterious power of Ayers Rock—the source of many Aboriginal myths. Explore the famed Great Barrier Reef, home to an exceptionally rich variety of marine life. And catch the total solar eclipse there on November 14 (weather permitting) before departing for the Island of Java, Indonesia, to visit Borobudur—the world’s largest Buddhist temple. See Jantar Mantar in Jaipur, India—gigantic stone astronomical instruments built in the 18th century to probe the universe. In Jordan, step through the Siq and emerge at Petra, an enchanting “lost city” carved from rose-red sandstone cliffs; and find ancient pictographs in the lunar-like desert landscape of Wadi Rum. Throughout the journey, travel by private jet with a team of world-class experts and professional staff for a level of service, comfort, and convenience that makes this a truly unforgettable adventure.
