Reading Guide (PDF)

Join us on an exciting and in-depth tour to the heart of Eastern Europe, a region both culturally rich and exceptionally beautiful, and ideal for the intellectually curious traveler. Our odyssey traverses five countries—Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria and the Czech Republic—and weaves together the area’s history with the monumental events of the 20th century.

In addition to discovering the charms and history of Budapest, Vienna, Warsaw, Krakow, and Prague, we will have ample opportunity to explore significant cultural, historical and scenic sites en route. Tour Vienna’s majestic Schönbrunn Palace, see Josefov, Prague’s historic Jewish ghetto, explore the unique Wieliczka Salt Mines near Krakow, and visit the concentration camps of Auschwitz and Birkenau.

Our small group size of only 24 participants offers a unique flexibility, and enables us to enjoy personal encounters along the way, such as a dinner in Bratislava with a local family and a private classical piano recital in Warsaw.

If you have any questions or to make a reservation, please call the MIT Alumni Travel Program at 800-992-6749, or email us at compass@mit.edu.
