Working & Volunteering

Make Connections, Earn Extra Cash—or Both

Student Ambassador Holiday Party Nov 07Student Ambassador enjoy a holiday party in November 2007.

Each year, nearly 100 students work for the MIT Alumni Association in positions with the Tech Caller Program, Tech Reunions, or the Alumni Fund Office. Many students also volunteer. Get involved and get paid for it with the Association's student job opportunities, or take advantage of invaluable networking opportunities as a student volunteer.

Job opportunities

Become a Tech Caller

The MIT Tech Caller Program is comprised of paid student callers who contact MIT alumni on behalf of MIT. Tech Callers solicit donations for the Institute, field questions about MIT, thank donors for past support, and exchange stories with alumni about MIT life. The program operates year-round, and offers a fun atmosphere and flexible work hours. Interested students should apply online.

Work Tech Reunions

Earn some cash before leaving for the summer, and get extended dorm housing until the end of Tech Reunions. Students work with over 3,000 returning alumni and guests as part of MIT's Tech Reunions in early June. Students can apply for either a Registration and Check-in or Kid Tech Counselor staff position. For more information, please contact Elena Lee.

Be a Senior Gift Committee Member

The Senior Gift, which is announced at Commencement, is the total amount of gifts made by students during their senior year. Various leadership and general participant roles are available to boost your resume and help achieve aggressive giving goals set by the committee. Successful committee candidates will have experience or interest in marketing, fundraising, or management. Interested students should contact Rosheen Kavanagh of the Alumni Fund Office.

Help Your Class in the Underclassmen Giving Campaign

The Underclassmen Giving Campaign is a fundraising effort for the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes for one week in both the fall and spring. Volunteers from each class personally solicit gifts from classmates to fund Public Service Center Expedition Grants. This is a valuable opportunity to learn about fundraising, enhance your resume, and ensure MIT students can continue their public service efforts around the world. Interested students should contact Rosheen Kavanagh of the Alumni Fund Office.
