Each October in Boston, the HUBweek festival connects researchers, creators, and innovators who can work together to make a real-world social impact in Boston and around the world. The week-long festival, co-founded by MIT, featured more than 150 events, 275 speakers, and nearly 30,000 attendees last year. Read more about the 2016 festival.
The 2017 festival will take place October 10–15 and will feature the new HUB headquarters—a transformed Boston City Hall Plaza—and a Future Forum panel moderated by New York Times bestselling author Malcolm Gladwell that will include author and surgeon Dr. Atul Gawande.
Other elements of the festival are in their formative stages and submissions are now open to participate. HUBweek’s Collaboration Call is open through May 5 and prospective collaborators can participate in three featured areas: host, share, and create.
- Create: Contribute programming to Immersion, HUBweek’s experiential arts exhibition that connects art, science, and technology with social impact. Opportunities include live performances, participatory projects, film/video, and art and technology.
- Host: Lead a workshop, hackathon, or special program at The HUB, HUBweek’s headquarters in City Hall Plaza. Or host a behind-the-scenes experience of your lab or company headquarters.
- Share: Showcase your startup and enter the festival’s pitch competition. HUBweek’s Demo Day features hundreds of startups sharing cutting-edge ideas and research. Gain access to investors, institutions, and mentors. Participate in the Demo Day pitch competition and win the Impact Leader Award and cash and in-kind prizes.
