Course 1: Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
3:30-5:00 PM  du Pont Court (tent)
Department faculty will be present to mingle while families enjoy a variety of delicious New England pies, along with hot cider, hot chocolate, and coffee.

Course 2: Department of Mechanical Engineering
3:30-5:00 PM  Building 3, Rm 370
A brief overview of Undergraduate Programs will be presented by Professor Sanjay Sarma. At 3:45 PM, the group will gather in Pappalardo Lab I Conference Room 3-061 for light refreshments. From 4:00-5:00 PM, Dick Fenner and Jordan Lewis will escort families on tours of Pappalardo Lab I and the Ocean Engineering Labs. 

Course 3: Department of Materials Science and Engineering
3:30-5:00 PM  Building 6, Rm 104
Reception hosted by Professor and Department Head Edwin L. Thomas. Other faculty and Society of Undergraduate Material Scientists (SUMS) officers and staff will be on hand to meet with families and discuss the department, major, and research. Staff will also present demos in the state-of-the-art Undergraduate Teaching Lab, other faculty labs, and they will explain equipment, answer questions covered by Course 3, such as nanocomposite, electronic, magnetic, photonic, structural, and bio materials, as well as their applications to the environment, energy, health, economic, and manufacturing issues. Light refreshments will be served.

Course 4: Department of Architecture
4:00-5:00 PM  Building 7, Rm 338 Wolk Gallery
Parents and families are invited to join the faculty and undergraduate students of the Department of Architecture for an hors d'oeuvres reception and discussion of what the Department has to offer its undergraduate students. The Director of the Undergraduate Architecture Design Program, Jan Wampler will host the event.

Course 5: Department of Chemistry
In lieu of a reception, the Department has begun a tradition of hosting a "Chemistry Magic Show." Check the events schedule for times and locations.

Course 6: Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
3:30-5:00 PM  Building 34, Rm 401 Grier Room
Professor W. Eric Grimson, Department Head, will give a brief introduction of EECS, after which researchers will give overviews of their projects. Light refreshments will be served.

Course 7: Department of Biology
3:30-5:00 PM  Building 68, Rm 181 Koch Biology Building
Reception hosted by faculty members of the Biology Undergraduate Committee, who will give a presentation on the Biology major, followed by discussion and refreshments.  Members of the Biology Undergraduate Student Association (BUSA) will be present to answer questions and give guided tours of the biology building and labs.

Course 8: Department of Physics
3:30-5:00 PM  Building 4, Rm 349  Pappalardo Room
Physics Department Head, Edmund Bertschinger, will host a reception with some faculty members, and presentations will be given by students on their research.

Course 9: Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences
In lieu of a department reception, please see the "Events" page for "Complex Overview" event and "Complex Overview and Tour" event.

Course 10: Department of Chemical Engineering
3:30-5:00 PM  Building 66, Rm 360
Reception and department overview presentation, followed by a choice of tours. View the renovated undergraduate lab and several varied research projects on display.

Course 12: Department of Earth, Atmosphere, and Planetary Science
2:00-4:00 PM  Building 54, Rm 923 Lindgren Library
Family and students are invited to take a break in the afternoon. Come, relax, and meet EAPS faculty.

Course 15: Sloan School of Management
3:30-5:00 PM  Building E52, Rm 468 Sloan Building
Families are invited to drop by the Dean’s conference room on the fourth floor of E52 to visit with program staff, ask questions, and pick up program materials.

Course 16: Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics

Come hear from the Department Head and the Associate Department Head about the educational and research programs in Aero-Astro.

Course 18: Department of Mathematics

Join department administrators and faculty for presentations in 2-102 followed by a reception in 4-174 (the math major lounge).

Course 22: Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering

Meet informally with faculty, staff, and current students to learn about curriculum and current research.

Comparative Media Studies Program
4:00-5:30 PM  Building NE25, 3rd floor
The Comparative Media Studies Program invites students and their families to visit our Friday-Games-at-GAMBIT event, where we play and discuss commercial video games as well as games developed at the GAMBIT game lab. Comparative Media Studies students and staff will be on hand to talk about all aspects of the program. Refreshments will be served.
