Speaker Resources
Former MIT Alumni Association President Harbo Jensen PhD '74 visits with members of the MIT Club of Saudi Arabia.
Over the past few years, more than 400 MIT faculty members have made time in their travel schedules to speak to alumni groups. President Hockfield has often described our graduates as an invaluable "Information Army," the informed individuals who are eager to learn more about research, to spread the word about the exciting work being conducted on campus, to help recruit students, and to market MIT to the world at large.
Why speak to an alumni group?
Speakers seek to engage alumni and friends with the intellectual life of MIT through their presentations. By engaging Institute speakers, the Association is able to align its resources with the core initiatives of the Institute, thereby delivering the ongoing educational mission of MIT to as broad an audience as possible.

"I had the best time last night... We had a spectacular sushi dinner and long talks... This was just a great experience for me and I enjoyed myself so much."
-Prof. Linda Elkins-Tanton, Assistant Professor of Geology
Assistant Professor Pawan Sinha '92 speaks at the Graduate Alumni Convocation in 2006.
Why alumni groups host Institute speakers?
Hosting Institute speakers is a way to bring MIT your area. Institute speakers help to engage alumni and friends in a meaningful way with the intellectual life of MIT through discussions and networking evenings.
