Discover What's New with Engineering at MIT
The Ray and Maria Stata Center (above) houses the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, one of numerous research labs for the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
The eight departments and one division of MIT's School of Engineering encompass a community of many of the world's brightest minds and inventive thinkers. The school includes about 60 percent of MIT's undergraduates with declared majors, about 44 percent of MIT graduate students, and just over one-third of the entire faculty of MIT. In the past year, the leadership of the School of Engineering reemphasized the purpose of the school—the very reason it exists—and that is to meet societal needs through education, research, and public service.
