Emma Rogers Society
Fostering Connections, Providing Support
The Emma Rogers Society was established in 1989 by and for widows of alumni and faculty of the Institute. The society's purpose is to be of service to its more than 5,000 members nationwide, keeping them connected to the Institute in their own right. A few months after the Institute learns of the death of an alumnus or alumna, the society sends an information packet to his widow or her widower. He or she is automatically enrolled in the society and will receive information about events and activities, unless the participant requests otherwise.
Participate in activities, attend events
Society activities include bi-annual newsletters, two day-long programs in Cambridge annually with faculty speakers and a luncheon, Technology Day/reunion activities, and outreach to the newly bereaved. Membership offers women and men the opportunity to enjoy the intellectual and cultural excitement of the MIT community, as well as the benefit of new and renewed friendships. Members are also encouraged to participate in the activities of MIT clubs in their area.
