Richard HolbrookRichard E. Holbrook, Chairman, CEO, and President of Eastern Bank

Since January 2007, Richard E. Holbrook has served as the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Eastern Bank Corporation, the holding company for the largest independent, mutually owned commercial banking franchise in New England.  He is also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Eastern Bank.

Rich joined Eastern Bank in 1996 as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President and was named President and Chief Operating Officer of the Bank and the Holding Company in 2001.  He has prior experience as a Director and CFO of a small biotechnology firm, and more than 20 years of banking experience as a commercial lender, trust officer, and planning and financial manager.

A director and member of the executive committee of the Boston Chamber of Commerce, Rich serves as a director of the Massachusetts Bankers Association. A Trustee of Partners Community HealthCare, Inc., Rich also serves as a member of the Partners Audit and Compliance Committee and the PCHI Finance Committee.  Rich is a director and chairman of Northeast Retirement Services and a member of the Chief Executives’ Club of Boston Board of Governors and Jobs for Massachusetts. Additionally, Rich serves on the national American Banking Association’s Mutual Institutions Council and the Government Relations Council in Washington, D.C.

A graduate of Yale University with a bachelor’s degree in molecular biophysics and biochemistry, Rich also earned a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School

Ann Prestipino

Ann L. Prestipino, Senior Vice President for Surgical and Anesthesia Services and Clinical Business Development, Massachusetts General Hospital

Ann L. Prestipino currently serves as the Senior Vice President for Surgical and Anesthesia Services and Clinical Business Development at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO) located in Boston, Massachusetts.  Ann received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Biology in from Brown University and a Masters in Public Health Degree from Yale University.  She began working at the Massachusetts General Hospital during the 1980’s and has been there ever since.  She began her career as the Assistant to the Director of Operations, moving on to the Administrative Director for Emergency Services and then becoming the Director of Patient Services.  In 1989 Ann was promoted to the position of Assistant General Director for Surgical and Anesthesia Services and in 1992 became Vice President for these areas.

In 2001 she was promoted to Senior Vice President.  In her current role Ann is directly responsible for all administrative and financial aspects including the clinical, educational and research programs in the Departments of Surgery, Anesthesia and Critical Care and Pain Management, Orthopaedics, Emergency Services, Urology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Pediatric Surgery. In addition, she serves as the senior executive responsible for the MGH Heart Center and the MGH Vascular Center and serves as the co-leader of the Partners Cardiac Executive Committee.  She recently has been asked to develop the clinical business development function for the MGH/MGPO and to work with CIMIT, the Center for the Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology, a joint program between the MGH, the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Children’s Hospital Medical Center, MIT and Draper Laboratories.  She serves as Senior Advisor to the Partners Emergency Preparedness Committee and chairs the MGH Emergency Preparedness Committee.  She sits on a wide number of committees involved in both the overall administration of the hospital and the physician organization.  She is also a former member of the Board of Trustees of Boston MedFlight, a current member of the Board of Trustees for the Center for Medical Simulation, Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, and a member of the American Public Health Association and the American College of Health Care Executives.

Michael Raab

Michael Raab, Founder and President, Agrivida, Inc. PhD, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Dr. Michael Raab is a Founder and the President of Agrivida, Inc., an agricultural biotechnology company focused on creating the next generation of industrial feedstocks for the fuel and chemical industries. Agrivida’s crops have improved processing traits that enable efficient, low cost conversion of the crops’ cellulosic components into final goods. At Agrivida Michael has led business and technical development, funding of the company, assembling the management and scientific teams, development of a strong intellectual property portfolio through inventorship and licensing, and has negotiated numerous strategic partnering agreements and collaborations.

Prior to founding Agrivida, Michael earned his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his work focused on linking gene transcription to the rates of chemical reactions in living cells. Before studying at MIT, Dr. Raab worked in process research at the Merck Research Laboratories, where he was involved in process design and scale-up for Pneumovax23®, Gardasil®, and Merck’s experimental HIV vaccine. He is author on numerous peer reviewed research papers, served as a visiting professor on the chemical engineering faculty at the University of Virginia, was named to Technology Review’s 2006 TR35 awardees as being a top innovator under the age of 35, and was selected as a participant in the National Academy of Engineering’s 2007 Frontier’s in Engineering meeting.

Ken WhiteKen White, Alumni Career Counselor, Sloan School, MIT

With over 20 years' experience in corporate-sponsored outplacement counseling and executive coaching, Ken White's career assistance consultancy capitalizes on 25 years' prior general management experience.  Ken has extensive first-hand functional experience in manufacturing, marketing, finance and engineering.  He has successfully managed start-ups, expansions, restructurings, and turnarounds.

In early 1988 Ken redirected his line management experience and training to help others succeed at their own career transitions.  He joined Neil MacKenna, a pioneer of long standing in the outplacement field, and took over management of MacKenna, Jandl & White specializing in peer counseling of executives from a diverse array of New England corporations, institutions and professional firms. 

In 1994, Ken instituted MIT Sloan’s Alumni Career Services for Alumni Relations Office dedicated to helping alumni make positive transitions.  In this on-going capacity, over the past 15 years he has personally worked with hundreds of alumni in all stages of career development.

Ken received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Yale University in 1965 with a minor in English.

In 1969 Ken received an SM Management from the MIT Sloan School.

Kristine Langdon

Kristine Langdon, Senior Client Partner, Korn/Ferry

Kristine Langdon is a Senior Client Partner in Korn/Ferry’s Boston office, and a member of the Global Life Sciences and Technology Markets, as well as a member of the Firm’s Financial Officers Practice. Kristine specializes in the recruitment and leadership development of senior-level executives.

Previously, she was the chief executive officer and founder of Thermo Vision Corporation, an early leader in photonic technologies. Thermo Vision became publicly traded in 1997.

Kristine was an engagement manager for McKinsey & Company in the firm’s Boston office, with clients ranging from leaders in medical device, pharmaceutical and electric utility industries to clients on Wall Street and former President George H. W. Bush's Points of Light Foundation. Kristine began her career at Raytheon as an engineer and physicist working on laser radar systems.

Kristine holds a master’s of business administration from Harvard Business School,  and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from Yale University.

Greg Rutan

Greg Rutan, Executive Search Consultant

Greg Rutan (Yale, 1989) is a veteran sales and marketing professional with experience ranging from small, entrepreneurial companies to international, multi-billion dollar corporations. His primary experience is in start-ups, launching new divisions, and turn-around situations. Greg is a seasoned recruiter and sales trainer whose skills include branding and identity, sales training, recruitment training, client development; start-up companies, launching new divisions and turn-around or problem fixing situations.  Greg's history includes starting several recruiting offices in the Northeast and is known in the industry as a turnaround specialist in the field of recruitment and staffing; completing searches with salaries ranging from $40,000 to $1,000,000.  A Psychology major at Yale, Greg emphasizes the fit between personalities and corporate cultures which has allowed him to not only complete key searches, but to act as a business consultant to clients ranging from start-up firms to Fortune 500 companies.  Outside of recruiting, Greg is heavily involved in Yale alumni activities, directs both local Alumni Schools Committee and Community Service Fellowship programs, and has served as an Association of Yale Alumni delegate.

 

Jodi Smith

Jodi Smith, President, Mannersmith

Jodi Smith is an etiquette advocate and has been promoting better behaviors since 1986.  Her business, Mannersmith, celebrated its fourteenth anniversary this January.  Jodi holds a bachelor’s degree in motivational psychology from the University of Rochester and a master’s degree from Cornell University.  She consults to organizations, corporations, educational institutions and individuals on a variety of topics, including dining skills, office etiquette, professional protocol and wedding preparations.  Jodi is sought out by the media for her no-nonsense approach to etiquette.  Jodi has been seen on the NBC Today Show, Good Morning America and on the CBS Early Show.  She has been quoted in the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and USA Today.  She has been a featured guest on radio shows from coast to coast and into Canada.  She is also the author of two etiquette books and currently writing her third.  Jodi is well known among her clients for her educational and entertaining style.
