I forgot my login name. What do I do?
Your login name is your Email Forwarding for Life address without @alum.mit.edu. If you have forgotten your login name, you can recover your login name and/or password.
How do I choose a login name?
When choosing a login name, please follow these guidelines:
- It should be between 2 and 30 characters long.
- Use only letters, numbers, periods (.), or underscores (_).
- Do not start or end your login name with a period or an underscore. Do not use more than 2 periods or underscores in your login name. Do not use periods or underscores next to each other (.. or __) in your login name.
- Do not choose a login name that may be offensive to others.
Please also remember the following:
- Your login name is not case sensitive.
- Your login name followed by @alum.mit.edu will become your Email Forwarding for Life address. Therefore, you should pick a login name that people can easily associate with you and that is simple to remember.
How do I change my login name?
You cannot change your login name by yourself. Please send an email to help@alum.mit.edu providing your name, birth date, and first and second choices for a login name, and Alumni Association staff will change it for you.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
You can have your password reset and emailed to you. If you have tried this and still need help, you can submit a request to have your password reset.
How do I choose a password?
When choosing a password, please follow these guidelines:
- It must be at least six characters long and must contain some letters and some numbers.
- Please do not use personal information, such as your name, birthday, or social security number, as your password.
Please also remember the following:
- Your password is case sensitive.
- Your password is one-way encrypted, so even Alumni Association administrators will not be able to see your password.
- You should change your password if you detect suspicious activities on your Infinite Connection account.
How do I choose a password hint?
The password hint is used to remind you of your password in case you forget it. When choosing a password hint, please follow these guidelines:
- It should be less than 255 characters long.
- It should remind you of your password but should not contain or give away your password.
What is the security question?
Your security question is used to help you access your account if you forget your password. The security question will be used to verify your identity when you try to look up your password hint or have your password emailed to you. Even though knowledge of the question alone will not allow someone else to access your account, you should still try to create a security question that cannot easily be guessed by others.
How do I choose a security question?
Go to the My Acount page and click the link to edit your password (above your contact information). This will take you to the Manage Password page where you can add or update your security question.
How do I change my password?
Go to the My Account page and you will see the link to edit your password (above your contact information). You will have to enter your current password, then you will be asked to type your new password twice to ensure accuracy. You will also be given a chance to choose/update your password hint and/or security question. Your password change will take effect immediately.
