Student Ambassador ProgramThe Student Ambassadors are a small group of students dedicated to the positive promotion of MIT. We volunteer to serve as liaisons between the current MIT student community and two other important groups: alumni and prospective students. Both groups with whom we interact are very interested in hearing student perspectives on life at MIT, and we are pleased to provide these perspectives for them. Why VolunteerThe Student Ambassadors are an ASA recognized group sponsored by the MIT Alumni Association . Student Ambassadors have the opportunity to interact with campus VIPs and alumni, many of whom become valuable career contacts. Ambassadors also have the chance to develop and receive training in communication, public relations and interpersonal skills. Events Ambassadors ServeStudent Ambassadors are visible at many campus events held for alumni and prospective students. Typical roles include mingling, hosting a table of MIT guests, providing tours, and speaking about the MIT student experience or student research. Events we volunteer at include:
Looking for New Members! We are looking for responsible, enthusiastic students who enjoy meeting new people. Ambassadors should be able to start conversations easily, handle several tasks at once, work under pressure, and function as good citizens of the MIT community. Due to the nature of our role at MIT and the restricted size of the group (30), interested parties must submit an application and attend an interview. If you are interested in becoming a Student Ambassador, please read the current Student Ambassador brochure or job description. Interested Candidates for 2008-2009 may apply for next year. This year's application deadline is Monday, September 8, 2008. Seeking Help from The AmbassadorsIf you are an MIT office interested in involving the Student Ambassadors in one of your programs or if you have questions about the MIT Student Ambassadors, the please contact their MIT Alumni Association advisor, Katie Casey at kcasey@mit.edu.
