Other Benefits

Generosity is its own reward—but it also has important fringe benefits. For example, when U.S. News and World Report began to factor "alumni satisfaction" into its annual rankings, MIT's standing in those rankings improved overnight. In 2002, the publication ranked the Institute fifth among the national universities in its peer group. In the 2005 undergraduate rankings, the Institute ranked high in many standings, including number one in Engineering, and was rated number one in graduate school rankings as well.
