Class Giving in Non-Reunion Years

Class agents play a crucial role in keeping their classmates connected to MIT during non-reunion years, encouraging annual support to MIT. The class agent job description is varied and includes: acknowledging gifts from members of their class on a monthly basis, working with other class officers to keep their class up-to-date on the latest news of MIT and working with the Class Giving staff to develop programs that encourage broad alumni participation. There are 68 class agents representing the classes of 1933 through 2004, and each class agent usually serves in this role for five years.

The Impact of the Class Agent Program

In addition to the monthly acknowledgement program, throughout the year class agents work on numerous projects to increase annual participation. To view current class participation levels, see the most recent class comparison report in the Class Agent toolkit.

In FY04 class agents launched a program to reach out to their classmates. Using greeting cards, class agents encouraged renewal of giving and recognized the impact of their classmates. A holiday greeting (pdf) and a springtime (pdf) greeting were used in this effort. The results of class agent projects are truly impressive.
