The Institute Career Assistance Network (ICAN) connects MIT alumni with each other and with students to facilitate career strategies, gather quality advice, and open up important networking connections. More than 3,000 alumni across an array of fields have offered to share their wealth of experience as advisors. Advisors may communicate by telephone, e-mail, or in personal meetings. Learn how to use ICAN via a quick video tutorial.

Why become an ICAN advisor?

Fortunate professionals have had advisors during critical career moments. Someone took time out to listen, or gave good advice, or made an important introduction. Such career assistance is invaluable at many career points. Finding advisors with the right expertise can be difficult and that's why the Alumni Association created ICAN.

"As an undergrad, I used ICAN to find a senior internship that led to a job offer after graduation."
-Genevieve Owyang '97, ICAN Advisor.

Participating as an ICAN advisor is the ideal way to stay connected to the MIT community and give back to fellow alumni and current students. At the same time, you can expand your network of professionals in your industry.
