Message from the Chair
of the MIT Alumni Association Selection Committee

Dear fellow MIT Alumni,

This is a request for your time and attention to help decide who will select the future volunteer leaders of MIT's Alumni Association.

Many of you support MIT by participating in alumni activities, volunteering, advocating for the Institute, and making annual donations.  Please take the time to vote for members of the Alumni Association Selection Committee (AASC).  Consider this yet another way to demonstrate your commitment to MIT.   Your vote is important!

What is the role of the AASC?
The elected members of the Alumni Association Selection Committee meet annually to select alumni leaders to serve in important volunteer positions. Specifically, they select the president of the Alumni Association and all other members of the Association's Board of Directors. The committee also recommends three alumni each year to serve five-year terms on the MIT Corporation, the Institute's governing body which sets policies that determine the future success of the Institute. As a result, fifteen of the forty five term members of the MIT Corporation are selected by this committee.

This year, there are twelve (12) exceptional alumni nominees for four open seats on the Alumni Association Selection Committee. Every candidate on this ballot is a dedicated and distinguished alumna or alumnus who was willing to step forward to accept leadership responsibility. I am grateful for their past and future willingness to serve MIT and our Alumni Association. I now count on you to do your part by casting your vote for one candidate for each of the four open seats. Votes must be cast by February 29, 2012 at 11:59 PM (ET).

As a measure of fiscal prudence and environmental responsibility, we have prepared an online ballot and encourage you to vote online. You will need an Infinite Connection (IC) account on the MIT Alumni Association Web site in order to review the candidate profiles and vote using the online ballot. If you do not already have an IC account, you will be prompted to register for one before using this online ballot.
